Our Story

His transformation from 250 pounds down to 160 pounds took about a year. This was solely through dietary changes and an increase in physical activity. After about a year’s time, he began training in the gym and over the course of the next 12-15 months, he put on muscle mass and gained approximately 25 pounds to reach his current maintenance weight.
It wasn’t until he was able to discover the spiritual component of life that he was able to make the lasting changes needed to rewire his subconscious mind - to discover the importance of being mindful of how every moment in life counts.

Growing up, Aaron faced deep states of depression, misery, anxiety and chronic anger as a result of some of the exposures of his childhood - experiencing the feelings of abandonment as a result of being left home alone at 8 years old while his grandparents would go to bars and drink. He lived with chronic stress, panic, and anxiety as he'd anticipate the alcohol-induced rage and violent family outbursts.

By his teenage years, he fell into a deep state of depression and turned to food for comfort. He skipped school, and his days consisted of playing video games from the time he woke up until the time he went to bed.

By the time he was in his late teens, his diet consisted of Taco Bell, McDonald’s, and a 24 case of Mountain Dew. He had hit a point in his 20’s where he felt as if he no longer wanted to live. He blamed himself for the death of his mother and his grandmother as he believed he was the burden that caused them to turn to alcohol to mask their pain. Subsequent behavior would include intense bursts of rage as his inner suffering would manifest outwardly. He was a lost soul and knew he had to pull himself out of the depths of despair.

Now, Aaron shares his story to not only remind himself of how far he has come, but to also show others that it is never too late to change. He and his wife Kelly created Drengr Discipline to serve as a vessel of inspiration, hope, community, strength, and positivity for those actively seeking it.
